Department of Beaches and Harbors: Ceremonies on the Sand: Venice beach allows weddings, parties, and gatherings on the sand if the number of people does not exceed 50 without a permit issued. A 10 x 10 canopy is ok to set up. Archways and guest chairs are not permitted except seats for the elderly. For Ceremonies/events more than 50 people a permit is required.
